Last night Lil and Ellen, our friends from school, landed in Hanoi. I haven't seen Lil for 8 months, since she left for her ski season a month before I left in December, and I haven't seen Ellen for 7 months! We went for their first taste of Vietnamese street food last night, which is really yummy here! Pho is a specialty dish in Hanoi, and it usually comes with either chicken (pho ga) or beef (pho bo). Another big dish up here is Bun Cha which is a similar sort of dish, except its with pork and less broth but with lots of mint and other herbs-seriously yummy!! Anyway-tonight we are leaving to begin our way down South to Hue (pronounced Hway), which was a very long time ago the capital city of Vietnam. Ellen and Lil are spending a couple more days exploring Hanoi and then are taking a trip to Ha Long Bay-so we will probably end up seeing them next week sometime!
