Day 9: First day at the Orphanage

Today we had our first day teaching at the Orphanage called Hogar de Menores, which is situated on the outskirts of Cusco next to the airport, so not the nicest place! At first we took a group of the older girls- half of them were really keen to learn some English and the other half just wanted to do their own thing. We played some games with them and went through basic things like colours, numbers etc. Some of them were so sweet and were so excited to see us. At 11 they had a little break and then we swapped groups, so we had the younger group. There were only 7 in this group and all of them were so excited to learn some English and we spent a lot of time drawing animals and pictures for them.
In the evening, they had organised Salsa lessons for us. I wasn't so keen, but it was actually really funny even though I didn't have a clue. Afterwards a whole group of us went for dinner at Pacha Papa's which is further up the hill in Cusco in a square called San Blas. The food was amazing and the people here are really, really lovely.
